SEACHA Cultural Heritage Clinic 2025

Jero Tumbuk was honored to be part of the 2025 SEACHA Cultural Heritage Clinic, a regional initiative focusing on the empowerment of local communities in preserving Southeast Asia’s rich cultural heritage. Held in Bali, this year’s clinic brought together passionate practitioners, community leaders, and cultural advocates from across the ASEAN region to learn, collaborate, and inspire action for sustainable heritage management.

Under the theme "Culture, Community, and Climate: Southeast Asian Coastal and Riverine Communities Respond to a Changing Environment", the program emphasized the intersection between cultural resilience and environmental sustainability. Over several days, participants immersed themselves in the vibrant traditions of Bali, while engaging in hands-on workshops, field visits, and collaborative sessions.

A Platform for Learning and Exchange

The clinic featured contributions from diverse institutions, including SEACHA (Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Alliance), Pusat Riset Cagar Budaya dan Museum, Universitas Udayana, Jaringan Kerja Pengetahuan Sosial (SocNet), and Jero Tumbuk itself as a local knowledge holder and host. Participants gained direct insight into Bali’s unique cultural landscape through curated site visits, traditional knowledge sharing, and community engagement activities.

Jero Tumbuk: Bridging Culture and Conservation

As part of the program, Jero Tumbuk served not only as a venue but as a living example of community-based cultural preservation. Attendees took part in cultural workshops and experienced how heritage, nature, and empowerment intersect within our eco-conscious retreat. We showcased our initiatives in traditional performing arts, sustainable tourism, organic farming, and youth education, offering a practical model for other communities across Southeast Asia.

Cultivating Future Collaboration

One of the key takeaways from the clinic was the importance of cross-regional dialogue and peer-to-peer learning. By creating a space where cultural workers and community leaders could share strategies, challenges, and hopes, SEACHA enabled meaningful connections that will continue long after the clinic ends.

We are proud to have played a role in this event and look forward to future collaborations that empower communities to protect and celebrate their heritage in harmony with nature.
